Welcome to St. Mary the Virgin, Cottingham.
Thank you for visiting our website. As advertised, St Mary's is a place of prayer - here for you. Our church building is open every day from 9.00am to 6.00pm, not only for daily Morning and Evening Prayer and the celebration of the Eucharist, but for those who are seeking a place of calm for their own prayers and reflections. Our services are mainly recognisable as belonging to the Anglican tradition and are for the most part in modern language. We use the Book of Common Prayer for Sunday Evening and draw people from a wider area for this service because of the quality of the choral singing.
As the Parish Church we aim not only to attract people into our Grade I listed building and the many other activities which take place in our halls, but also to be fully involved in serving our local community: being what a parish church ought to be for people of all ages and background. Whoever you are, we are there for you.
There is more information on the website as well as on twitter stmaryschurch7. We'd love to meet you in person and show you a warm welcome.
Click here to view the Parish Profile. This is a document compiled by the Parochial Church Council (PCC) which informed intending applicants for the post of Rector about our church, our hopes and aspirations, and about Cottingham as a parish and village.
We are delighted to announce that the Revd. Nicola Bown has been appointed to be the new Rector of St Mary’s Cottingham after a unanimous decision by the interviewing panel. The Revd. Bown will move to the village from Linton near Cambridge with her husband and two sons as soon as present circumstances allow.
We look forward to welcoming Nicola and her family to St Mary’s as soon as it is possible for us to do so.
