It was absolutely marvellous to be at the ordination of our new curate the Revd Shelly Jones, last Saturday. This was the first time since the beginning of the pandemic that York Minster had hosted a big ordination service, and it was wonderful to be there and share in the excitement and joy of the day, and to pray for and with the twelve new Deacons in God’s Church as they began their new ministries.
Shelly joined us for the first time in her new role last Sunday and led us in our intercessions. This Sunday she will preach for us for the first time, and I am really looking forward to it. It’s the beginning of a new chapter in her life, but also in ours, and it’s so exciting to look forward to all that she brings to St Mary’s and all that she will do here. Shelly will mainly be here on Sundays as she works full-time as a school chaplain, but may be around more during the week in school holidays.
Many congratulations on your ordination Revd Shelly! It is great to have you here with us.
with my prayers and blessings, Nicola
