Next week is Holy Week, the most solemn, the most important week of the Christian year. Starting on Palm Sunday we have services each day, and on each day we remember the days of Jesus’s last week, culminating in Good Friday and the waiting day of Holy Saturday. I encourage you — in fact I urge you — to come to ask many of these as you can, and to enter deeply into the story of Christ’s passion. It’s not easy to bring ourselves to stand at the foot of the cross, but by faithfully doing so, we enter into the joy of the Resurrection on Easter morning even more fully. We have to journey to the cross to celebrate the empty tomb.
During the week, on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, I will be doing three Holy Week Meditations based on CS Lewis’s children’s book, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Each of these will link events in Jesus’s last week with episodes from the story. It’s another way for us to embrace the meanings of Christ’s Passion.
