Friday 19th April 2024

Posted on April 19, 2024

One of the great privileges of being a parish priest is praying for people. As well as people on our sick and departed lists, I also pray for other people — people I meet who share with me something of their life, and ask me to pray, people who I know are going through hard times, ‘all sorts and conditions of men’, as it says in the Book of Common Prayer.

Last week I was on retreat, and this is a photo of the cross in the tiny chapel where I sat and prayed for all those who had asked me to pray for them. The chapel has been made out of a medieval farm building, a place of quietness where God’s presence seems very near. I knelt before the altar and held before God the people of this parish, those who are in need, and those who had particular prayers they had asked for. It was my privilege to do so.

with my prayers and blessings, Nicola
