This Sunday our 10am service will be shorter than usual, so that we can have a good amount of time to think together about our beautiful church, and how to conserve and improve it now and into the future. Coffee after the service will be held in church so that we can meet together.  Next Sunday we will celebrate Harvest, and as usual any gifts of food and toiletries will be going to Cottingham Foodbank. In the evening there will be a special choral evensong for harvest with our friends from St Helen’s Welton.

This coming Monday, October 7th, is the anniversary of the terrible attacks on Israel by Hamas, and the beginning of the war in Gaza. The last week has seen hostilities against Hezbollah  in Lebanon in retaliation for bombing of Israel and rockets fired from Iran. The human cost of all these things is appalling. On Monday from 6pm-7pm in church I will be holding a vigil of silent prayer for the middle east. Anyone, whatever their views on the middle east is welcome to join me, for as long or short as you wish. We will simply keep silence and place our longings for peace in God’s hands as the day ends and the sun sets.
